February 19, 2008
Welcome and Introduction: Carla called the meeting to order at 7:07
pm. Those present: Carla, Mark T., Denise, Dorothea, Mark, Randy,
Karen, and SPL
Previous Minutes: No changes noted to the minutes. Minutes approved
as posted.
Treasury Report: Denise reported total of Troop account as
$8871.76. The Scout accounts contain $1159.29; still have Scouts listed
that are no longer part of the Troop. Denise will make forms stating individual
account amounts and give them to each Scout. The Galveston Scout Shop has
a balance of $71.85 and the Clear Lake Scout Shop has $36.83. The
Recharter amount was $1045; the Troop deposited $1440. The Recharter account at
Council now has a zero balance. Brisket sales profit was $180; all of
which went into the Scout accounts of those that participated. Denise
stated the Troop received a check from Council for $150 as popcorn
commission. She believes it to be a mistake and anticipates returning the
money. Summer Camp deposit of $900 has been paid so far; another payment
due soon. Total collected from Scouts at present is $1894.41.
Denise stated she has accumulated bank statement from as far back as
1990. She also has patches with no idea to whom they belong. Mark
motioned to keep the records for two full years plus the current year.
Karen seconded the motion. Committee approved the motion. Carla
gave Denise a letter she received from Council concerning the Recharter
account. Committee approved the treasury report.
SPL Report: Scout listening during meeting except for one. Scouts
enjoying art merit badge. Dorothea stated, in Board of Reviews, Scouts
requested more hands on activities and using Scouts that have merit badge
taught to assist in the teaching of merit badges. SPL stated Troop
participated in K of C fish fry. He felt they did a good job.
Activities/Calendar: Mark noted the Church has recruitment days for
parishioners. He wondered if the Scout leaders could attend to recruit
Scouts for the Pack and Troop. Randy stated he would check with the
Church.
Mark stated they set up flags on Sunday and removed them on Monday. He felt
it was much easier than previous times and had no complaints from
customers. He did state that several Scouts who signed up to post flags
did not show making the time for posting twice as long as anticipated.
The Troop received another renewal of flag subscriptions.
Randy noted the Pearland Shooting Club offers the requirements for the rifle
and shotgun merit badges for free.
February 22-24: campout at Knights of Columbus with pine needle clean up;
Pack invited
February 24: WEBELOS crossover starting at 3 pm
February Troop meetings: completion of art merit badge
March 1: Blue & Gold, service hours for assisting
March Troop meetings: railroading merit badge
March 28-30: campout at Goliad
April Troop meetings: cinematography merit badge- no instructor.
Karen states she knows someone that can teach it but he cannot teach on
Mondays.
April 18-20: campout at Quintana
June 8-13: Youth Leadership Training at Camp K
Roundtable Report: New District Commissioner- Faye Watson. July 18,
2010 is date for the Anniversary of Scouting Jamboree in Virginia. The
cost is approximately $2500/Scout. OA will be contacting Troops to hold
elections before March 31.
Equipment: Mark stated the garage at the Church has a leak; the flags
were wet. He thinks the rain is coming in through the fan vent in the
ceiling. Randy will let Father Skip know. Two axes in the
trailer. Dry firewood placed in trailer front space. Additional
green wood placed behind Church garage.
Advancements: Karen stated nothing to report unless someone missed at the
last Court of Honor. Possibly one Scout- Karen will check.
Other: A BP representative approached Mark at the fish fry and offered to
donate $500 to the Troop. Denise was given his business card for
follow-up.
Adjournment: The next meeting is scheduled for March 26. The
meeting adjourned at 8:18 pm.
