COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
Friendswood Library

March 23rd  , 2010

 

Welcome and Introduction:  Margo called the meeting to order at 7:08pm.   Those present include Margo, Mark M, Samuel, Tim, Amy, Rudy, David, Kathy Williamson, and Kent.

 

Previous Minutes:  The previous minutes were brought to the floor and no corrections were made.  Mark motioned to approved and seconded by Margo.  The minutes were approved.

 

Treasury Report:  There was no treasury report this month.

 

The senior patrol leader reported that a new patrol, the Seals, was formed by the new Scouts that had recently crossed over from Cub Scouts.  The Troop went for ice cream on the 8th since the whole troop wore Class A uniforms during the first meeting of the month. 

 

The Calendar was discussed next. 

 

Calendar:  Troop elections in April.  The ASPL will be elected and in six months will assume the SPL position.  The ASPL needs good grades to ensure that he will be available for Troop meetings and campouts.  Mellisa Johnson is handling the Swimming MB and will be setting up several meeting for the boys to earn this MB before the canoe trip in May. 

The troop is sending two boys to NYLT- National Youth Leader Training in June.

Other Items

          Mark has been getting emails from a troop in Nairobi. 

Margo will talk with Friendswood about the troop adopting the road beside MQ as part of the Troops service projects.  Rudy brought up creating a board to show which boys were in which patrols since there seems to be some confusion.  AngelinRose Le is the new camping coordinator.

 

Action items:

1.     Troop Display in the church.

a.     Tim Vance mentioned putting the Eagle plaques on the wall.  The committee tabled this until Tim can present his idea to the Committee.

b.     The Johnson’s volunteered to reorganize the display case.

c.     Would like to honor the Scouts who have received Eagle Palms.  Denise will look for ideas in the Scout Shop.

 

 

The next meeting is Tuesday April 20th. The location will be announced later.
