TROOP 452 COMMITTEE MEETING
MINUTES
April 21, 2004
Call to order: Meeting was called to order by Robbie McAfoos.
Approval of Minutes: Minutes from March 23, 2004 were approved.
Reports:
· Scoutmaster:
Alan is working on a meeting plan for troop meetings, and is open to ideas. He is working with the Patrol Leader Council on agendas for upcoming meetings. He would like to continue troop meetings throughout the summer, of at least 2 meetings a month. He is also working on a discipline policy for the scouts.
·
Treasurer:
Troop
balance is $6301.81, which includes $4500.00 from StarCom, through Greg Steele.
· Training:
John Monnat is our Training Coordinator and maintains training records for Adult Leaders. His information is only as accurate as what he is given. BSA and Bay Area Council require all Adult Leaders to have current Youth Protection Training, YPT. Initial YPT must be completed as a classroom type instruction, and is good for 2 years. Recertification may be done online, through the Bay Area Council website.
The Diocese of Galveston-Houston requires Adult Leaders to complete Virtus Training. This training is offered at numerous Catholic churches in the area, on various dates. Adults wishing to go on overnight activities must be current in both of these trainings.
Robbie stated he would contact Ron Harris to inquire who our District YPT Coordinator was, and try to arrange training at an upcoming troop meeting.
· Fundraising:
The Committee adopted the Fundraising Policy for the First Aid Kits. A brief explanation follows. For all the kits that are built, either for sale to public, or for industrial sell, a camp credit of $.50 cents per kit will be divided among all participating scouts. For each of the generic kits, sold to the public, the scout will receive $1.50 of camp credit. For each of the industrial kit sold, the scout will receive $.50 of camp credit. Steve Lippold will keep track of the scout’s camp accounts.

Discussion:
It was brought to the attention of the Committee, there continues to be a problem with the pick up of scouts, by their parents, at the church, when returning from an overnight activity or campout. If a parent or guardian is not available to pick up a scout, 2 adults must remain until a parent is contacted and arrives. After the Goliad trip, there were 2 scouts whose parents were not reachable for pickup. It was decided that home phone numbers and cell phone numbers, and possibly work numbers for both parents be available for each scout going on an activity, overnight or day trip. In addition, one or two cell phone numbers of the Adult Leaders going on the trip will be made available for the parents, so they can contact the troop if exact return times are needed. Alan is trying to make and maintain a master list, and he requests all parents check his list at the table at the next troop meeting to make sure the information is correct.
The Committee agreed that Adult Leaders, who have completed their Scout Master fundamentals, will have their camping fees paid by the troop for weekend campouts, and for Fall and Winter Camp at Camp K. Summer camp fees and Philmont fees are not included.
