COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

June 20, 2007

Welcome and Introduction:  Carla called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.  Those present:  Carla, Mark, SPL, Dorothea, Denise, Michele, and Mark T.
Previous Minutes:  Kathleen emailed a correction to the minutes.  The minutes read "$90 per campsite"; the correction is $90 for campsites.  No other changes noted.  Mark motioned for approval of minutes with correction; Denise seconded the motion.  Committee approved the minutes with the change.
Treasury Report:  Denise reported the Troop bank account amount as $6601.25.  She stated the Troop received a check for $800 for helping the Knights of Columbus with the fish fry and $1450 from StarCon for the purchase of first aid kits.   Mark noted the Troop would also receive a refund of $1000 from Summer Camp.  Dorothea motioned the treasury report approved as reported; Mark seconded the motion.  Committee approved the report.
Activities:  Mark gave a report on Summer Camp.  He stated it was phenomenal.  He thought checking-in was a disaster- did not have some forms and some documents were not completed.  He noted the camps were becoming very strict with check-in.  The tents the camp had available were canvas and full of granddaddy longlegs so the Troop used the Troop tents.
Mark thought the food was incredible.  On the Pack and Paddle, they encountered Class 2- Class 3 rapids.  They jumped off a fifteen-foot rock, fired shotguns, mountain biked or rode horseback one day, snorkeled, and went caving.
June 23:  PLC at Mr. Valdez's house
June 25: Troop meeting; possibly paint the Church parking lot- Mark states he will talk to Randy to see if this needs done.  If not, the Scouts will make stencils at the meeting.

June 30:  possible clean out of Church garage- Mark will ask Randy if the Troop is doing this

SPL Report:  SPL stated camp went really good.  He enjoyed the Pack and Paddle and would do it again.  Base camp won an award for the cleanest.  One Scout at base camp won the Golden Arrow in archery, another won an event in the Camp's Rodeo.
SPL attended NYLT (National Youth Leader Training).  It was a weeklong event.  He learned how to teach other Scouts using EDGE (Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, Enable) as well as how to show interest and keep interest of Scouts.  He stated they attended several programs a day and did Troop and Patrol activities.  He recommended sending any Scouts interested to this training.
Roundtable Report:  no Roundtable until August
Equipment Report:  Dorothea gave the report in Gregg's absence. All the propane tanks filled.  The missing tent poles were found- double set in one of the other tent bags.  Three tents were missing out of the count.  SPL stated they were used at Summer Camp and sent home with Scouts for cleaning.
Other:  Carla stated a Scout requested an Eagle Project Review during the June 25 Troop meeting.  She asked how many Committee members would attend.  She stated she would contact other Committee members not present.
Carla noted that, starting school, several active Scouts would not be able to make the meeting due to practice after school.  She asked if changing the day or the time or possibly both for scheduled Troop meetings could happen.  Mark stated it was tried before and was unsuccessful.  Carla stated she would send out an email to get other Troop members' opinion.
Mark noted Michele is now in charge of the Troop medical forms.
Adjournment:  No meeting scheduled in July.  The meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
