TROOP 452
MINUTES
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HALL
7/21/04
Call to order: Meeting was called to order by Scout Master Alan Valicek in the absence
of Committee Chair Robbie McAfoos.
Approval of Minutes: Minutes from June 2004
were approved.
Treasury Report: psam ordener submitted a
register report on troop funds. Balance to date is $5630.63
Advancements: Committee discussed Board
of Review process. Questions were raised if Asst Scout Masters can sit on BOR.
It was mentioned current policy is registered Committee members, who are
current in Youth Protection and Virtus Training may sit on Board of Reviews.
Board of Reviews is scheduled for the first troop meeting of the month, every
month. Scout must notify Karen Frank prior to the meeting, so she can verify
advancements. In addition, BOR may be scheduled through Karen Frank for any
other troop meeting, as long as she is given advanced notice, prior to the
troop meeting. It was requested if a BOR is scheduled at a troop meeting, other
than the first meeting of the month, adults be notified prior to sitting on the
BOR, if possible, so they can be prepared, and also, so there will be the
required number of adults available for that evening.
Scout leadership positions are required for
advancing ranks, Alan stated he tries to make sure all scouts who need to hold
leadership positions, receive them. Alan stated Asst. Patrol leader is not
considered as a leadership position.
Training: John Monnat requested he
be notified of all Adult training completed so he can keep his records current.
Randy
Ordener stated, he was informed by Father Skip, that any adult working with a
scout on church property is required to have Virtus training. Virtus training
is still available for those who need it. Committee requested training for the
Committee members, as there is a course for this. John will request Ron Harris
present this for Committee members at a future troop meeting.
Equipment: Committee approved funds
for an adjustable hitch for the trailer. Cost approx $140-$150. This will allow
multiple vehicles to pull the trailer. A new battery for the trailer is also
needed, and funds were appropriated for this.
Fundraising: Bill Kibikas reported
poor sales at the July 5, 2004 festival at Stevenson Park. Sales at venues such
as Kroger and Walgreen’s have been more successful in the past, and will most
likely be planned for future sales.
John Monnat informed the committee the Knights
of Columbus has a booth at the Air Show, and offered the scouts to sell First
Aid kits there. John thinks the Air Show is weekend of Oct 23, 2004, but he
will verify this.
Scoutmaster: Alan Valicek reported
there was some confusion at Summer Camp with scouts leaving early accompanied
by their parents. It was decided this was a communication issue unique to this
camp.
Registered Asst Scoutmasters who attended
summer camp, elected to be reimbursed by credit to their camp accounts. psam will
take care of this and notify Steve Lippold, keeper of camp accounts.
