TROOP 452 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

AUGUST 13, 2003

Call to order: Meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Robbie McAfoos. Members were welcomed and introductions followed.

Approval of Minutes: Minutes for June 2003 were approved.

Reports:

· Committee Chair: Robbie presented a calendar for August 2003-December 2003. It will be available on line soon. Robbie reported the Council has no training records of any kind. Training Coordinator is needed to assess who has trained for what, and assess the troops training needs. Robbie reported some work the fundraising project with the American flag still needs to be done. Funding for purchase of the flags needs to be decided.

· Scoutmaster: Alan reported on the Patrol Leader Meeting. Each month will concentrate on an activity, and Troop Meetings will focus on these. August 2003 will concentrate on Fishing, September 2003 First Aid, and October 2003 Pioneering. Alan is interested in obtaining CPR training for the Scouts. Discussion followed. Patrol rosters and leadership positions that were assigned need to be clarified and given to John Y''barbo for insertion into the database. Alan reported on some of the Eagle projects in progress.

· Treasurer: psalm ordener reported account balance of $3997.14, with $1500.00 in camp accounts.

· Advancement Coordinator: Karen Frank has all advancement records from summer camp at Bear Creek. Scouts must make sure they give Karen all Merit Badge requirements they have completed. John Y'barbo will insert them into the database. It was decided by the Committee, if a Scout states he completed a requirement, and there is no record of it, the Scout must present documentation of completion to Karen. Karen suggested to the Committee that Board of Review be changed from three times yearly, to once monthly, first Troop Meeting of the month, when Class A uniforms are worn. The Scout will need to contact Karen in advance to schedule the Review, so she can prepare. The Committee agreed this was a good idea.

· Outdoor Activities Coordinator: A day trip to Galveston is planned for Saturday, August 23, 2003. Meet at Mary Queen Church parking lot at 0900h for a day of Fishing and Hiking. A weekend camping trip is planned for Friday, September 26, 2003 through Sunday, September 28, 2003, theme is First Aid. Then, Friday, October 24, 2003-Sunday October 26, 2003, a weekend campout is planned at Steele Ranch. Camp hosts: Greg, Dorthea and Issac Steele. Theme is Pioneering.

· Secretary: Kathleen Meyers presented a draft of updated Committee positions. Troop has a need for Training Coordinator and assistants. Psalm will check with Dawna Dotson on how she is doing with updating the Merit Badge counselor list.

· Chartered Organizational Training: psalm reported the Diocese is requiring training for "Protecting God's Children. " She is not sure of the requirements yet, but will check and report when she does. Training is available through Mary Queen and dates/times are posted in the bulletin.

· Training Coordinator: This position needs to be filled.

· Equipment Coordinator: Luke Rossi reported on equipment. He states an inventory needs to be done, and he will arrange it.
