COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
FRIENDSWOOD LIBRARY
August 15, 2007
Welcome and introduction: Carla called the meeting to order at 7:03
pm. Those present: Carla, John, Mark, Gregg, Randy, Dorothea, and
ASPL
Previous Minutes: Dorothea stated no changes to the minutes. Gregg
motioned the minutes approved as written, Mark seconded. Committee
approved the minutes.
Treasury Report: The Troop account shows $6993.90. Mark stated
Kathleen said there is little left in the camp accounts. The Pearland
Lions Club donated $500 to the Troop in appreciation of Kyle L.'s Eagle
project. Carla suggested sending a thank you for their donation.
Mark commented that Kyle's Eagle ceremony will be at the Lions Club and the
Troop could express their appreciation then. Carla felt the Troop could
recognize them at the ceremony but an acknowledgement now of the donation would
be more appropriate. Dorothea motioned the treasury report approved as
reported, Mark seconded. Committee approved the report.
Equipment: Gregg stated the bumper of the trailer and one of the stoves
needed repairs. Mark explained that the trailer had hit a post at the
last campout. Gregg stated he would do the repairs himself.
SPL Report: ASPL reported the Troop function as "good".
Although not present for the Court of Honor, he stated he had heard that it
went well.
Upcoming Activities/Campouts: Mark stated the PLC had recommended the
following merit badges be taught at Troop meetings this year: Railroad,
Shotgun, Art, Communications or Computers. He stated he did not have a
Merit Badge Counselor for Art. It was suggested to have an art teacher
teach the merit badge. Carla suggested an existing merit badge counselor
hold the class and have the art teacher as a guest speaker to teach the class.
Mark discussed changes in Troop camping. He stated before the last
campout, everyone going met at the Church and ate pizza before traveling.
Instead of building an entry at the campsite, they built a hammock stand
capable of holding him. It took the Scouts a couple of tries but he felt
they enjoyed it. He stated 5-6 Scouts attended the last campout.
They had a BBQ cook-off and had the pool all to themselves.

Randy asked if the Troop was changing the day of the meetings from Monday to
Tuesday. He needs to give a schedule to the Church for their calendar to
reserve a place for the Troop to meet. Carla will make a call to the
registered Scouts to see what day is best for the Troop meetings. She
