COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
Mary Queen Catholic Church
Tuesday August 17th, 2010
Welcome and Introduction: Margo called the meeting to order
at 7:05pm. Attending were Mark M, Rudy,
Margo, Denise, Tim V, Peter K, Jamie P, and Margaret.
Previous Minutes:
The previous minutes were read. Mark made a motion to approve the
minutes which was seconded by Denise.
The minutes were approved.
Treasury Report: The
troop has $8,590,92 in its account. The
troop spent $2,163 for 16 tents and approximately $100 to repair old and make
new flags. One scout owes $65 for
summer camp.
There was not a senior patrol leader report.
Quartermaster report:
The senior troop quartermaster, Jamie Peebles, requested to be put on
the agenda. After the summer camp the
troop is missing an axe from the trailer and has been missing for awhile. Also additional mantles are needed for the
lanterns. A lantern was also reported
missing but Rudy found it in his gear and will return it. The quartermaster also requested a weekend
to clean and reorganize the trailer.
Tim V asked if the inside should be washed down and painted and the
quartermaster agreed it would be a good idea.
The committee agreed to schedule a weekend later in the Fall to clean
and paint the trailer.
The trailer
had a flat during summer camp and it took half an hour to get the spare. A better place to store the spare is
needed. Also the crank needs to be
replaced. Tim V volunteered to get a
new crank and install it.
Eagle Project Peter Kaminsky
He will be
building a decorative wall near the fire pit and walkway at the church
rectory. There are three steps: 1) dig
a trench. The trench will be 12 deep and 15 long. 2) Set rebar including vertical rebar and fill trench with gravel
and cement. 3) build a cinder block wall
with facing stones. The wall will be 4
tall and 15 long.
The committee
recommended adding stabilizing sand on top of the gravel and making the
equipment and safety list more complete.
The rebar will be pre-cut before being brought to the job site. No date was placed on the calendar. The committee approved the project with the
corrections noted above.
The Calendar was
discussed next.

Other Topics:
The scout
accounts information will be placed in a secure area of the troop website with
a password given to all committee members.
Since the update can take awhile the last time the spreadsheet was
updated will be shown in the spreadsheet.
The troop
will be giving pictures of the troop in front of the van that carried them to
summer camp to the people who donated money for the van. A plaque and with an engraved thank you
message will be included.
The tents the
troop purchased where unsuitable for a Boy Scout troop. The stitching was weak, it was hard to set
up, and the zippers were of poor quality.
The committee agreed to return the tents. Rudy will do further research and make a recommendation.
The next meeting is Wednesday September 22th. The
location will be announced later.
