COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
TIBBITTS' HOME
September 10, 2008
Welcome and Introduction: Carla called the meeting to order at
7:05pm. Committee members introduced themselves to a new parent, Mary,
present at the meeting. Those present: Carla, Mark T., Samuel, Mark, Mark
K., Gregg, Denise, Dorothea, Karen, and Randy
Previous Minutes: No changes noted to minutes of last Committee
meeting. Minutes approved as posted.
Treasury Report: Denise reported the Troop account at $9969.91.
Gregg motioned the report approved as noted, Samuel seconded. Committee
approved the treasury report.
Mark noted the Troop received $1000 helping with the Fish Fry. He
recommended the money earmarked for use for the Scouts to supplement Summer
Camp fees or Recharter registration. Discussion ensued. Gregg motioned
$1000 set aside to defer cost of registration, Samuel seconded. Committee
approved the motion.
Mark stated the display box in the Parish Hall was running out of space.
Committee suggested the completed Eagle plaques permanently mounted on the wall
by the display case to allow more room in the case. The Troop will need
the Church's approval.
Randy stated the Church needs a meeting schedule for the Troop. The
sooner it is sent in, the more likely the Troop will receive its request.
Other: Randy and Mark along with members of the Church (Rosemary and Liz)
had a meeting with Father Skip. They discussed the needs for the Troop
meeting room and what the Troop could do for the Church. Father thought
the Troop could do a project every month for the Church. Troop
representatives suggested developing a list of projects both long and short
term. The Troop is committed to painting to curbs at the Church on
October 11. Scout Sunday also set for February 16, 2009 at the 11:30am
mass.
Activity: September- Fishing merit badge
Sept. 19- Spaghetti dinner (service hours)
Sept. 20- Merit Badge Academy
Sept. 27, 28- Copano Bay camping trip
October- campout at Lake Livingston; date to be determined
Oct. 3-5- Catholic Retreat
Oct. 11- Curb painting at Mary Queen
Oct. 12- USA 10 miler; help hand water to runners for 2-3 hours
Oct. 20- Court of Honor
Oct. 25- Halloween party at Mary Queen
Oct. 30- Halloween in the Park; pick up trash
November 21-26- Fall Camp
Adult Leader Needs: Positions available: 1) medical forms- keep
Troop medical forms up to date, contact Dr. Moore's office to set up troop
physical days. Samuel volunteered for this position. 2) Roundtable
representative- meeting is second Thursday of every month, attend meeting and
report District and Council news to Committee 3) Training coordinator-
keep track of adult leader training and potential for training. Mark K.
volunteered for these positions.
Fundraiser: Popcorn sales start September 13
Equipment: Mark K. is in charge of equipment. A need for potholders
noted.
Advancement: Troop has a new Eagle Scout- Matt.
Adjournment: The next meeting is scheduled for October 15 at the
library. The meeting adjourned at 7:56pm
