Robbie, Alan and Mark are able to make changes to the calendar. Additions to the calendar can be made at the troop web site.

Robbie reported Wood Badge Training will be held Spring 2004. The troop will fund 2 Adult Leaders to attend training, which will be held on two consecutive weekends. He is hoping one of the trainees will agree to take over Scout Master responsibilities

·        Scoutmaster: Alan Valicek reviewed the calendar for October 2003.  There will be no troop meeting October 13, 2003 due to holiday. October continues to concentrate on the Pioneering Merit Badge. After discussion, it was agreed the campout for October would be held at the KC hall at League City. John Monnat will check to make sure it is available. The scouts will continue to work on the requirements for the Pioneering Merit Badge. John stated he is sure there will be some additional work to be done, so the scouts could work on service hours.

·        Treasurer: psalm ordener reported account balance of $5405.43, with $517.60 in camp accounts.

·        Advancement Coordinator: Karen Frank reminded everyone of the new Board of Review procedure. Scouts must request a Board of Review in advance. Karen stated scouts might call or email her.

·        Secretary: Kathleen Meyers reported she is still trying to find someone to coordinate the Highway Cleanup. Many scouts are requesting service hours.

·        Training Coordinator: John Monnat notified the committee on upcoming training sponsored by the District, in November. Safety Afloat and Merit Badge Counselor training. He will send email notifications and submit the information for insertion into the calendar.

·        Equipment Coordinator: Dorthea Steele provided a Quarter Master report. Greg Steele and Issac Steele worked very hard on the troop's tents. Many were in disrepair and missing parts. New bags and drop cloths were donated. They repaired holes in tents, repaired and matched poles, and repaired grommet holes. Lanterns were also repaired. A lot of work was done, and the troop has 14 good tents. The light inside the trailer is out, and the battery pack is missing. Someone will try to locate it, or it will need to be replaced. Buckets for water and sand are needed for the tents. Kathleen volunteered to shop for these.

Winter Festival Jamboree will be held in January 20, 2004 in Pearland. John Monnat stated he will send information at a later date.

·        Discussion:

Question was asked why there is an early departure from weekend camp outs Sunday morning. It has been noted camp is broken early Sunday morning, breakfast is quick, and departure is as early as 0800h. It was suggested camp continue until after lunch, so additional activities could be scheduled. Answer was early departure so Mass could be attended. Now, there is an afternoon mass, so camp can continue a little longer. Nothing was decided at this time and will be determined for next campout. It was noted one scout's parents were unable to be located Sunday morning after the Huntsville campout, and two adult leaders had to wait at the church one and a half hours until the parent returned home. Henry Valdez stated he would obtain cell phone numbers for all parents of scouts camping in the future so parents could be contacted at all times, especially if they are not camping with their son. This is also necessary, as an emergency contact is needed.

Philmont 2004 and Summer Camp 2004 were discussed. Robbie asked if any scouts had expressed interest in Philmont for this year.

·        Adjourment.

Next meeting Wednesday, November 12, 2003, 1900h.
