COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
TIBBITTS' HOME
November 18, 2008
Welcome and Introduction: Carla called the meeting to order at
7:07pm. Those present: Carla, Karen, Mark T., SPL, Denise, Sam,
Dorothea, and Daniel F.
Previous Minutes: In the previous minutes, Mark stated the Scout applications
were rejected. Carla noted the Scout applications were not rejected; an
adult application was returned for completion. With this comment noted,
Committee approved the minutes.
Treasury Report: Denise reported $9754.39 in the account with $2036.19 in
the Scout accounts leaving an actual balance of $7718.20 in the Troop
account. She stated the Troop had income from flag subscriptions.
She also needs to talk to Mark about money for Double Lakes.
The Troop has not received its Recharter packet yet. Karen noted they
were available at the District meeting tonight. She read an email to
Carla. Carla requested the email sent to her as a reminder.
Denise stated the calendar at Mychurchevents needed renewal. She asked
Carla if she would like to change the provider. Carla stated to pay the
renewal; she had not researched a new calendar site.
Denise thought the Troop had money in an account at the Galveston Scout
Shop. Carla stated the account was emptied to open a Troop account
instead of a combined Cub/Boy Scout account. Denise recommended sending
$100 for the Troop account at the Galveston Scout shop; Committee agreed.
Sam motioned the treasury report approved as reported, Karen seconded.
Committee approved the report.
SPL Report: SPL stated the Troop is working on the First Aid merit badge
at the meetings. Fall Camp is coming up this weekend. The Copano
fishing trip went well. The Troop is having a White Elephant party on
December 15. They will not use the same rules as last year. SPL
stated the Troop needs a room at the Church where they can have food and drinks
for the party. Troop elections are pending; will possibly occur on
December 1.
Eagle Project: Daniel F. presented his project of helping the San Leon
Pet Adoption Center. It consists of building two benches for the exercise
area, replacing the covers on the shade shelters, and providing galvanized
pails to hold drinking water for the animals in the exercise area. He
does not have a date set but the project has to be done before January 7,
2009. The project will take two separate workdays; the first to build the
benches, the second to take the benches and pails to the San Leon PAC and
replace the shelter covers at that time. The money for the project comes
from what he has saved already and his parents, who will match whatever money
he has for the project. Denise stated Home Depot or Lowes would
usually give a gift card to Scouts working on Eagle projects; go when it is not
busy at the store, wear the Scout uniform and bring a copy of the Eagle
project. It was also recommended going to Tractor Supply and feed stores
for galvanized pails. Dorothea recommended adding the galvanized pails to
his supply sheet and elaborating on safety. Committee approved his
project.
