COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
Girl Scout House, Friendswood, Tx

December 15^th , 2009

Welcome and Introduction:  Carla called the meeting to order at 7:02pm.  Those present include Carla, Mark M, Rudy, Margaret, Chris, Samuel, Karen, Denise, Aris, David, Tim, and Amy.

Previous Minutes: There were no changes to the minutes and they were approved by the Committee.

Treasury Report: Report given by Denise. The total in the account at the end of November was $9,435.33. The amount in the Scout accounts is $1,307.02. The troop also has two accounts with Bay Area Council. The first is a Store account with $213.70 and the second is the registration account of $15.37. A motion was made to move $100 from the Store account to the Registration account to help facilitate the registration of new scouts and adults. Mark made a motion to approve; it was seconded by Denise and approved by the Committee. The Treasury also paid for the “Church Calendar” which appears on the troop website for another year. Also the troop paid the postage to allow people to renew their flag subscription for another year. The Treasurer’s report was approved.

Chris Yee reported that all money has been collected for popcorn sales. A total of $2229 has been collected and $1,492.43 has been sent to Council. Mark M requested someone to be at every Troop meeting to collect money for whatever events are coming up. Margaret volunteered. Due to late payments by some scouts, a motioned was made to enforce deadlines for payments for events. If a payment is not made by the deadline then the scout can not attend. The motion was approved. Carla will send an email to the troop explaining the new policy.

Tim Vance requested a change in the troop practice of awarding rank advancement at the Court of Honor. He requested that rank be awarded after the Board of Review or the very next meeting. Boys sometimes earn several ranks between Courts of Honor and could not wear the badges they had earned. Our Advancement Chair will pre order several rank patches to have available at Troop meetings.

Calendar:

January 2010:

4^th Troop meeting – $10 Deposit for Summer Camp

10^th Working on Aviation Merit Badge. Troop will be going to an airfield and working with model planes.

11^th Troop meeting – Deadline for Summer Camp Deposit

18^th There will not be a Troop meeting this Monday due to Martin Luther King’s birthday.

25^th Troop Meeting

30^th Pinewood Derby

February 2010:

The Troop will be doing a pine needle cleanup and campout at the Knights of Columbus Hall in February. Date TBA

1^st Troop meeting

7^th Scout Sunday – this is the 100^th Anniversary of Scouting. Mark M will try and determine if there will be a March on this date.

8^th Court of Honor

15^th Troop Meeting – Flag Retirement

20^th Scouting 100^th Anniversary – Moody Gardens

22^nd Troop Meeting

27^th Blue and Gold Banquet. The Troop helps the Pack with this event. The Troop is not expecting a large number of Webelos to cross over this year.
